The question of who has access to your security camera video continues to
be in the
news. As a result, several DW customers have been asking, “How
secure are my cameras?"
It’s important to keep in mind that
DW Spectrum IPVMS is
designed with the principle that “
the enemy knows the system.” Regardless of whether you set up the client, the app or DW Cloud, no one at DW can get access to a DW Spectrum
system unless we know the user password:
- There are no universal passwords.
- There
are no backdoors.
- DW
does not store any passwords.
We cannot get access to a user’s systems even if we’d
like to. Which we don’t. Unless you need help. Then we can do it together and
you can change your passwords after we are done.
Also, please review the information that we provide in our
Technical Support Knowledgebase. Specifically,
But DW doesn’t stop there. If you are using DW
MEGApix IP cameras and a DW
VMAX IP Plus NVR, you can implement
Closed Circuit IP (CCIP), which allows you to add yet another
password to your camera feeds.
In a nutshell, when you buy a DW system, it is your system. We are too busy making and
supporting cool products to mess around with other people’s stuff. Security is
a major part of our business (along with cameras for productivity and
management — complete surveillance solutions).
